WORK & CONSUMPTION

Dominance and submission (or superiority and inferiority) are manifested in the adult as submission to the boss (or to the internal judge or abuser) which is then metamorphosed and re-manifested as consumer power. Consumer goods, especially leisure items, bought with the money earned from a job are a way of getting back at the dominator, of stealing a bit of freedom back. For many in the world, the compensation not even enough to live on. For others, it is extravagant and unnecessary. It is never an equal trade, and the worker always remains submissive, since their life is being stolen and given back in an unsatisfactory manner. It is a game of losing.

ACTIVISM & SOLIDARITY: ALL POWER TO THE UPHILL BATTLE

Struggling to change the world for everyone's betterment is an uphill battle. It is a battle that only can be won by linking everyone's common struggles. In activism, the structure of dominance-submission is often reproduced, usually out of supposed necessity. Having not been taught any other way to relate, we are often at a loss to produce alternate means of working.

To have POWER OVER another being is the use of your energy to replace theirs. Strategically, you shed your personal use of power in an evenly distributed, downward direction and retain yourself as a figurehead; the presence of your self at the head of the pyramid. Conversely, their POWER UNDER means that they shed their identity in exchange for raw energy, and do the work that need be done. This model of activism is for environments so harsh that multiple forces could break an apparent solidarity effort. All positions occupied on the pyramid are in reality equal and the efficacy of the technique requires the sharing of this understanding regularly. A pyramid structure of power is a strategic power under/over situation. It is, in the best case scenario, really a POWER WITH situation in which activists have assembled themselves into a pyramid for maximum application of work in a given situation. A position of power is best interpreted as a position of service.

To have POWER WITH is to form a network of equal beings all working toward a common goal. Everyone's unit of power, their maximum efficiency, is directed toward the goal with as little directed toward infrastructure as possible [but infrastructure must not be eliminated, only minimized for maximum security and efficiency]. A reasonable number of activists can form a single line solidarity effort; a large number of varied activists can form a giant net of strength, in which back lines help to support and enrich front lines, mitigating the impact of any one blow. An integrated, diverse community can resist this way. This model has a variety of ages, races, genders, strengths, etc. There is no weak point in the network as there may be with a single line of several alike individuals. A multiple line, integrated, diverse community can resist in many ways and be amazingly flexible. The identification of a group as any one of these types comes out of speaking it as truth, coming from a place of honesty; a hierarchy disguised as a solidarity effort is not long disguised.

POOR POWER DYNAMICS

A group is unhealthy when members are truly using their power against each other or against themselves due to a lack of wise, balanced persons in leadership positions. The wise leader is not heavily invested in dualities; they are calm as an expression of their strength; they do not take things personally or hold personal grudges against members of the group. Infighting and self- prevents energy from being directed toward the group's goal. It is a result of immature members who feel the need to resolve their personal issues in the forum of the activist group. It is in many ways a good place to do so, and may be one of the only trial grounds an individual may have encountered for doing so in his life. In most situation individuals encounter, they are immersed in a system out of their control, and certain neuroses remain latent due to the numbing effect of this repression. In a situation that offers hope, like the internal activist community, these neuroses manifest widely. Over time, hopefully, as the individual balances and integrates in the community, their neuroses calm.

An equal, power-with situation with wise, calm leadership, a diverse membership, and an effort toward a gentle and non-dual understanding of the world will assist and carry a neurotic individual to a high state of peace. Otherwise, the outcome may widely vary; nonetheless, expressing neurotic or psychotic behaviors is a useful exercise for the individual while possibly compromising the effectiveness of the group.

PEACE IS POWER

Peace is the seat of all power. In total chaos, all power is in use as everything is in motion; in total peace, all power is available as everything is still. Kinetic and potential energy are inversely proportional. Imagine what it would be to take a meaningful action in the world coming from a place of total stillness.
